Vintage 2025: A Year of Quality and Character at IDL

Vintage 2025 has officially wrapped up, and we’re thrilled to share what’s been happening behind the scenes at IDL. From early morning vineyard picks to late-night pump overs in the winery, it’s been a big season full of colour, flavour, and promise.

A Standout Year for Our Grapes

One of our biggest highlights this year came from Hill Vineyard, a long-time grower partner in the Murray Darling region. They delivered close to 2,000 tonnes of grapes — everything from bold Cabernet Sauvignon to juicy Shiraz, and fresh, crisp Chardonnay.

Here’s a quick snapshot of what we brought in:

  • Cabernet Sauvignon – Big, bold, and full of dark fruit flavours

  • Shiraz – Spicy, smooth, and perfect for richer reds

  • Merlot – Soft and plummy, a great all-rounder

  • Chardonnay – Zesty and bright, ideal for fresh whites

  • Petit Verdot – Small but mighty, packed with colour and depth

Thanks to mild harvest conditions and cool mornings, the fruit arrived in top condition — balanced, vibrant, and full of life.

What Happens After Picking?

Once the grapes arrive at our site, they’re pressed, fermented, and transferred into tanks or barrels — depending on what kind of wine they’re destined to become. Right now, we’ve got over 2.8 million litres of 2025 wine quietly developing in the winery.

Here are a few exciting things happening inside:

  • Chardonnay is looking beautifully fresh, with citrus and stone fruit notes already coming through.

  • Cabernet Sauvignon is deep and powerful, with great potential for ageing.

  • Shiraz has that signature spice and smooth richness we love.

We’re already seeing some amazing flavours shine through, even this early in the process.

What’s Next?

The wines will now continue to rest, mature, and evolve. Over the next few months, we’ll start tasting, blending, and preparing the first of our 2025 releases.

It’s early days, but one thing’s for sure — Vintage 2025 is shaping up to be something special. It’s a vintage full of personality, potential, and classic Aussie character.

Whether you love a rich red, a crisp white, or something in between, there’s a lot to look forward to from this year’s wines.

Stay Tuned

We can’t wait to share more as the wines continue to develop — and of course, once they’re ready for your glass. Keep an eye out for updates on our social pages and at the cellar door!

Cheers to a great year of wine, hard work, and good stories to come. 🍷
