Behind the Lens with our Winery Team

Toni, Jo-Hanna and Rob are the creatives behind some of our best vineyard and winery shots at Idyll Wine Co! Toni has been our Laboratory Manager for almost 4 years, Jo-Hanna has been a Cellar Hand for just over a year and Rob is also a Cellar Hand as well as helping out with pruning and vineyard maintenance. We caught up with Toni, Jo-Hanna and Rob to hear about their experiences from inside the winery.

What do you love most about your job?

Toni; The wine industry brings a diverse group of people with so many different backgrounds. This creates an awesome energy within the team. I love training staff and working with them closely to develop a team that fits and works well together. I also love being involved in the development and production of new products.

Jo-Hanna; During vintage, the winery is full of life and watching the trucks come in one by one dumping the grapes into the crusher. Such a buzz!

Rob; Being outdoors.

Have you always worked in the wine industry?

Toni; I have worked in wine and other industries.

Jo-Hanna; I have previously worked in vineyards and was always curious what it would be like to work in the cellar. There’s so much variety and you’re always constantly learning new things. I grew up in Torquay and now live Ocean Grove so I have always lived near the beach and started Surfing when I was 12 years old. It’s a perfect life working at the winery all day and then Surfing in the afternoon during Summer.

Rob; No, but coming from Marlborough in New Zealand, I've done plenty of pruning in the past and wanted to see a different side to the wine industry.

What is your personal favourite product we make on site?

Toni; I like the St Andrews range. The wines in this range are high quality, reliable and consistent. They are also great value as the level of sophistication in the product goes above and beyond the price point.

Jo-Hanna; My personal favourite product would have to be a Winton Road Shiraz. I love a beautiful, bold Red.

Rob; CHARDONNAY! I like any good wine, but Chardonnay is a favourite and the 2017 Idyll Chardonnay punches above its price range in my opinion.

You take amazing photos around the vineyard and winery, have you always been into photography?

Toni; Vintage this year held an energy around the winery that just was calling out to be captured.

Jo-Hanna; I’ve always loved capturing nature at its finest, but only recently gotten into photography. I especially love capturing the sunrises and sunsets from atop the catwalk in the winery.

Rob; In the past few years I've done some paid work shooting a few weddings, real estate and commercial work part time. I like most forms of photography, hence a broad range of work.

Do you have an art or photography page where people can see more of your work?

Toni; @tonicramond

Jo-Hanna; @salty_daze_

Rob; I have 5 instagram accounts including my dogs one! Head to @realvibelife and you can find the rest in the bio.
