2021 Christmas Wine Pairings

Christmas 2021 is shaping up to be the best one in years. Being surrounded by family and loved ones is something to celebrate after the past couple of years. A true Australian Christmas feast is not complete without a couple of bottles of top quality Australian wine. Winemakers Blair & Toby, Sales Manager James and Executive Director Andrew have shared with us their top Christmas feast wine pairings to ensure your Christmas day is truly delicious and filled with some of Idyll Wine Co’s best wines.

Andrew: The Idyll Victoria Cabernet Sauvignon would work well with numerous dishes. A BBQ steak, slow cooked lamb shoulder or even Turkey with Cranberry sauce would complement the ripe tannins and red berry fruit the palate offers.

Blair: It is very difficult to find the perfect match to the traditional Christmas turducken, but you can rest assured the Idyll Victoria Chardonnay is up to the task. Bold flavours will match well to the various meats contained within the turkey outer casing.

Blair: Post Christmas lunch games of Cricket can be improved with filling a glass with Arcadian Sauvignon Blanc while wicket keeping. Balance the fresh and zesty flavours of passionfruit and grassy herbaceousness with an appeal for caught behind (unless employing an automatic wicketkeeper).

Toby: Our Estate grown Idyll Geelong Blanc de Blancs will compliment any fresh seafood perfectly for an Aussie Summer Christmas. Think fresh oysters and prawns as you’re sipping on a glass of bubbly under the hot sun. The perfect Christmas Day.

James: The Arcadian Shiraz pairs best with a slow cooked roast beef. Serve with some hearty vegetables including roast potato and fresh beans. Notes of dark berry fruits and spiced plum complement the heartiness of the beef.
